A delightful twist on the classic sloppy joe, fusing savory Korean-style beef with a sandwich for a burst of flavor.

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup green onions, chopped
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it up with a spatula.
  2. Drain excess fat if needed, then stir in minced garlic and ginger, cooking for another 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add soy sauce and brown sugar to the skillet, mixing thoroughly.
  4. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.
  5. Stir in chopped green onions and remove from heat.
  6. Toast the hamburger buns lightly in a separate skillet or oven if you prefer.
  7. Spoon the beef mixture onto the buns, sprinkle with sesame seeds, and serve warm!

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey or chicken. For gluten-free, use tamari and gluten-free buns.
