Soft, pillowy garlic butter naan brushed with golden garlic butter and fresh herbs. Perfect with curries, lentils, or as a snack.
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp instant yeast
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1/2 cup warm water
2 tbsp butter (or ghee)
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
1. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
2. Stir in yogurt and warm water to form a soft dough.
3. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
4. Divide dough into 6 balls. Roll each into oval shapes.
5. Heat a cast-iron skillet until very hot. Cook naan until puffed and golden on each side.
6. Melt butter in a small pan. Add minced garlic and sauté lightly.
7. Brush garlic butter over hot naan and sprinkle with cilantro.
8. Serve warm with curries, lentils, or dips.
For extra softness, brush naan twice with garlic butter: once right after cooking and again before serving.
You can swap butter for ghee or olive oil for variation.
Keep naan warm in a kitchen towel until serving.
