A delightful apple crisp featuring tender apples with a sweet and crunchy oat topping, perfect for fall gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups peeled and sliced apples (about 6 medium apples)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, diced

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Stir to coat the apples evenly, then transfer this mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, mix the oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt. Add the cold, diced butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Sprinkle the oat mixture uniformly over the apples in the baking dish.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For best results, use a mix of sweet and tart apples. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for added indulgence.
